Clothes Crisis

I am having a really hard time dressing myself in my 30's. Granted, if I had an excess of disposable income, this wouldn't be such a challenging task for me. But alas, I am on a budget, so clothing has taken a backseat to milk, bread, and gasoline while I continue on the road to being debt-free. My problem is walking the line between tween and young adult "fashion", and soccer mom.

Shopping malls and discount stores are filled with wannabe punky hipster 80's skin-tight neon flannel vomit. Not to mention the children's department looking like a parking lot at an Avril Lavigne concert exploded. Why must we insist on shoving sweet, innocent girls into studded tulle mini skirts, combat boots, and a neon body suit!? What is this saying to our young girls? When will it END!? I digress...

I've never really been a "trendy" person anyway, and I feel a constant struggle to find and embrace my own personal style - so I flip flop around in a perpetual search for comfort, value, and a little fun. But somehow, I always end up leaving the store disappointed and with nothing! Is it too much to ask for something that is affordable, versatile, sophisticated without looking too mature, and still a little fun and interesting?! Maybe I am asking too much. Maybe such clothing does not exist on a budget! Or maybe I'm fashion-challenged! Probably a little of both. Everything always seems too old for me, or too young. To tight, or just not right. 30 has proven to be a difficult age to express myself through clothing...

Ya know, K...sometimes I wish I could. Clothes AND shoes. I always go shoe shopping with something particular in mind, then always end up leaving disappointed. I think I would call the line "thirty one". OMG. We're about to be 31!
